Advanced Lighting Systems Acquires NitenDay

Advanced Lighting Systems Inc. (ALSI) and NitenDay Industries (NDI), both privately held corporations specializing in fiber-optic lighting systems, have announced the purchase of Dallas-based NitenDay Industries. As a result of the acquisition, ALSI will change its corporate name to Advanced NitenDay Inc. Operations of the combined companies, including all manufacturing formerly performed at NitenDay’s Dallas facility, will be based at ALSI’s Sauk Centre, MN-based headquarters.

NitenDay Industries, founded in 1994, is a technology-based fiber optic lighting with current offerings include its Dawn series illuminators, patented Radialyte cables, Focalyte cables, Mycrolenz lenses, Nitelyte series fixtures, Lytescape series landscape heads, and new patent-pending optical platforms and light launching systems.

NitenDay’s Dallas facility has been closed and all inventory and manufacturing equipment is being moved to ALSI’s new Sauk Centre manufacturing location. Bill Little, NitenDay’s founder, executive vice president, and chief technology officer, will be retained by ALSI. Little, who is remaining in Dallas, has been appointed the new chief technology officer. Little says, “This new company will provide me with the opportunity to focus on what I do best, which is developing new fiber-optic technologies. This new relationship should be positive for both companies, as well as for the fiber-optic lighting industry.”

“This acquisition creates a company with increased volume manufacturing capabilities for cable, light sources, and fixtures,” says Paul Streitz, president of Advanced NitenDay. “We will be able to offer a wider range of services and products, and to improve our customer service. We have acquired a number of new technologies through NitenDay’s R&D program, which we plan to release within the next 12 to 18 months that should place Advanced NitenDay at the forefront of the technology lighting industry. Combining the complementary products of the two companies, and utilizing both NitenDay’s representative network and Advanced Lighting’s dealer/distributor network strengthens our position within the industry, and should be instrumental in increasing our market share.”

Streitz says, “The integration of NitenDay’s product line provides several additional advantages to ALSI. Not only will vertical integration increase the profit margin on many of our product offerings, but the acquisition also provides us with an issued patent and several patentable technologies. Additionally, the acquisition positions the Company to fill unmet international market demands and to accelerate the products offerings into key OEM markets. ALSI will address international market opportunities by providing additional support to our 73 existing distributors and by hiring an international sales manager.”

Advanced Lighting Systems, founded in 1994, manufactures fiber-optic cable sold under the trade names of Mega-Brite solid core side light cable, Mega-Glow non-twisted side light cable, and Mega-Lite end light cable. The Company also manufacturers fiber optic components such as Spectrolite fiber optic curtains, carpets, and signs. ALSI has provided its fiber-optic lighting for many performing artists (including Britney Spears, Cher, James Taylor, and Bette Midler), Broadway shows (including The Lion King, Beauty and The Beast, Riverdance, Ragtime, and Showboat), Las Vegas venues, and corporate events.

ALSI’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities are located at 519 Lincoln Road, Sauk Centre, MN. For additional information, please visit the web sites at www.advancedlighting.com and www.nitenday.com.
